For nearly six decades, the Annual Key West Conch Shell Blowing Contest has been a beloved local tradition. Celebrating the cultural and historic significance of the conch shell in the Florida Keys, where conch shell blowing was used by Calusa Indians for communicating, and by sailors throughout history. The day will feature a lively progression of contestants sending howling roars into the sun-filled sky. The contest will be free and open to children and adults of all ages, and it will offer a special look at local culture and tradition for travelers visiting from out of town.
