How To Beat the Heat in Key West

For travelers visiting Key West in the summer, beating that intense heat is key to being able to chill out and enjoy your vacation. And if you’re planning future trips to Key West, while sunbathing is one of the best parts of being down here, knowing how to cool down in style is also important. So here’s a brief guide on how to beat the heat in Key West.

Stay at Parrot Key Hotel & Villas

We are proud to be home to one of the best places to beat the heat in Key West. From our guest rooms to gardens and refreshing swimming pools. Here are a few examples:

Our Key West, FL Guestrooms

In addition to strong air conditioning, each of the guestrooms at Parrot Key Hotel & Villas features Wi-Fi, a mini-fridge for keeping drinks cold, and a flat-screen TV for entertainment while staying cool. For the utmost comfort this August, we recommend checking out our Garden King Rooms with an easy foray into a tropical, shaded hangout. And if you’d prefer that classic ocean view, check-in to one of our waterfront or partial water view rooms and suites, each offering a breezy private terrace or balcony.

Explore Parrot Key’s Amenities

Whether you’re in a garden room or not, you’re sure to find some cool hangouts across our five acres of award-winning landscaped palm groves. You can escape the heat in any of our four onsite swimming pools. And with on-site dining available all day long, you don’t have to spend too much time out of the water. We also have a Sunset Watersports concierge desk offering many daily activities and rentals for guests.

Head To Duval Street for a Drink

One of the more popular ways to cool down in Key West is to head to the world-famous stretch of Duval Street for a drink. Take a free shuttle there, and discover a lot of delicious and fun options here. You can head to Fat Tuesday for a New Orleans-inspired frozen drink, which you can carry out with you just like on Bourbon Street. There’s also likely to be some live tunes at Sloppy Joe’s. And for a breezy experience that may help with the heat, try Watch Tony Swim at the end of Duval Street.

Explore Old Town & Smathers Beach

Our shuttles will wake you directly to Old Town Key West, where you can shop, eat, and always mosey over to some breezy coastline. You can also check out Smathers Beach, which is the largest beach on the island and a great place to get a tan and take a nice refreshing dip. Around town, there are a number of other coasts to swim off, as well as exciting eco-tours, Sunset Watersports tours, and other water-based excursions. Stop by the concierge desk at Parrot Key to arrange your island adventure.
